Sit tall and feel confident in staff pose

Writer's picture: Fiona HattonFiona Hatton

Staff pose is wonderful for building core strength, but it can be tough to keep your chest lifted. Especially if you're sitting in the pose for some time. Many of us start to slump or feel it in the tops of our legs.

Here are 3 adjustments to try to help you feel more confident next time you're in staff pose.

A woman sits on the floor with her legs out in front of her. Her knees are bent to help sit taller

1. Bend your knees. This makes it more comfortable to sit tall and lift your chest

A woman sits on the floor with her legs out in front of her. She is pushing into her finger tips to help sit taller

2. Bring your hands to the floor slightly behind you and lightly push into the floor. This resistance helps to lift your chest

3. Bring a belt around the balls of your feet and gently pull. This helps to sit taller for longer

We try lots of adjustments in my gentle yoga sessions to make sure you find the best version of a pose for you. To find out what's on this week, head over to my booking page.
