Lots of us find sitting for a long time pretty uncomfortable - especially sitting cross-legged on the floor. Our bodies often find ways around it (you might notice that after a while you curve your spine a little or lean back on your hands for example) but I'm going to share a few simple ways to sit more comfortably and start to strengthen your core.
Sit on a cushion
By lifting your bottom and bringing your knees in line with your hips it's much easier to lift your chest and sit taller for longer.
Wrap a blanket round your ankles
Wrapping a rolled blanket round your ankles and under your knees can give your legs extra support.
Kneel with a cushion
Kneeling over a cushion or some blocks again helps to lift the hips. For some people this can be much more comfortable than crossed legs.
Other options include sitting with your back against a wall or even sitting on a chair. Once you've found the adjustment for you, you're so much more likely to feel more comfortable and get more from your seated yoga. Try them and let me know which one you prefer!
